Presidentsí Message

Gail Rounds and Diane Burr

Welcome back garden club members! We hope that you all had a wonderful summer and are looking forward to joining us for meetings and field trips once again. It is an honor and privilege for us to serve as club Co-Presidents.
In looking back to last season the club had many accomplishments that we can be proud of, including the Blue Star Memorial By-Way Marker placement on the Jensen/ Rio Historic Arch and an Award Winning Website. Two of our junior gardeners were poster winners in the Smokey
Bear Woodsy Owl Poster Contest.  In addition, scholarships in the amount of $4,070.00 were given.

We are excited about the events that have been planned for this season. The board and committee chairs have been working most diligently to bring to the club, interesting and educational programs, and exciting field trips for your enjoyment.
Components crucial to the clubs success are members who volunteer to share the work and responsibility that helps our club flourish. You are literally the backbone of this club. Sharing our knowledge with other club members, friends, neighbors and especially new residents will keep our club growing.
It is our hope that the club will continue to give back to the community.  As new projects this year, we will dedicate a flowering tree to the Indian Riverside Park in celebration of Arbor Day and partner with the Hoke Library to present a program called Plant of the Month.
Our FFGC theme for 2017-2018 is Plant, Bloom and Grow with Us.  Each one of us can plant a seed of membership, starting with our greeting committee to welcome any visitors to our meetings. Please plant more seeds by inviting family, friends, and neighbors to a program or field trip. We bloom thanks to our gardening committee maintaining gardens at the Hoke Library, Indian Riverside Park, the Log Cabin in Langford Park, our annual Plant Sale and promoting our club through new community projects. Please consider volunteering to beautify our community!  And lastly, we can grow our membership with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere to each new face we see, perhaps inviting a new visitor to sit with you.
Club membership provides us with a great opportunity to develop new friendships we might never have had a chance to form.

Wishing you all a wonderful season,

Gail Rounds and Diane Burr
