Who We Are & What We Do
Our club consist of a
variety of members of all genders, ages and interest. Each
member can choose what they like to do and how involved they want to be.
Some of our members like it strictly for the social
aspect because our meetings are fun and some for our community’s well-being. We
have a gardening committee that maintains
area gardens at the Hoke Library, the Log Cabin and Indian Riverside Park. Some of our members joined for the educational
programs. Some for our charitable causes. Our proceeds are
used for
summer camp scholarships for area school children.
And some for all of these reasons combined.
Mainly we like to see that each member gets the most out of their
membership according to their own interest and schedules.
In all, I think you will find us a gracious, friendly and down-to-earth
(some of us literally) group of people that share a common interest in nature‘s
beauty.
We meet each month on the 3rd
Wednesday
from Oct through April. Our meetings are normally held at the Langford Community
Center at
the Jensen Beach/Rio border on Dixie Hwy. The meetings start at 10:30 am and
each
club business meeting (which run about 30 minutes) is followed by a guest
speaker
with demonstrations on various topics such as floral care, gardening and our
environment.
We also have wonderful excursions to different events, garden shows,
educational lectures, etc. We either car-pool or rent a coach depending on
distance and
attendance. We recently have had wonderful tours of the Villa Viscaya
Gardens, Fairchild Tropical Gardens,
The Society of the Four Arts, Green Cay Nature Center, Tropical Ranch,
Heathcoat, and Mounts Botanical
Gardens.
If you think you may want to add something
special to your life, please scroll to the bottom
of this page to find a link to an application for membership that you can
print, fill out and send to our treasurer or bring to our next meeting. The
meeting schedule can be seen here Monthly Programs
